The Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC (FFSBC) is private, non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. The FFSBC delivers a wide range of fisheries management services and programs focused on fish culture, conservation, restoration, fisheries enhancement, public education, and the development and marketing of freshwater sport fishing in BC. FFSBC has a staff of approximately 85 union and non-union employees in eight locations throughout the province.
We are seeking an accomplished and innovative leader to join our management team as the Nechako White Sturgeon Conservation Centre Manager. Reporting to the Vice President, Operations, the manager will be responsible for leadership of the facility and all aspects of the management and administration of programs, staff, equipment and facilities of the conservation centre. The position supports the Nechako White Sturgeon Recovery Initiative through provision of a conservation fish culture program, a range of related biological services, as well as a public outreach program.

Qualifications – The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, and a degree in biology, engineering, fish culture, business management, project management or a related discipline. Relevant experience could include fish culture activities, fish culture physical plant operations, facilities, working in a team environment, and managing budgets. An ability to provide professional leadership, negotiate agreements, exert influence, achieve consensus, maintain credibility, and cooperate effectively with diverse groups is essential. Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.
Some travel and work outside of normal hours of operation are required. This position is excluded from Union membership.
